Iron tools and weapons go mainstream and it hits different when everyone can afford a sword
By 1000-930 BCE, iron smelting technology had spread across the entire Near East, ending the bronze monopoly that had kept military power concentrated among empires. Iron ore was way more common than tin and copper (bronze ingredients), so suddenly smaller kingdoms could arm themselves properly. This technological shift is literally why this era is called the Iron Age, and it helped level the playing field for states like Israel.
