Military dispatches written on pottery shards during Babylon's invasion of Judah — you can literally hear the panic in real time.
These ostraca (ink on broken pottery) from ~588 BCE were found at the fortress city of Lachish and contain desperate military correspondence as Babylon was conquering Judah city by city. One letter says 'we are watching for the fire signals of Lachish because we cannot see Azekah' — meaning Azekah had already fallen. Jeremiah 34:7 mentions these exact same two cities as the last ones standing. The overlap is chilling.
