Two centuries of relative peace begin across the Roman Empire — creating the conditions that will allow Christianity to spread.
Starting around 27 BCE under Augustus, the Pax Romana brought unprecedented stability to the Mediterranean world. Trade routes were secure, roads connected every province, a shared language (Greek) allowed ideas to travel freely, and Roman law provided a common legal framework. Early Christians would use every one of these systems to carry their message across the known world. The infrastructure of empire became the highway for the gospel.
