God set up the one day a year where Israel's sins could get a full reset — Yom Kippur was born.
After Nadab and Abihu's deaths, God established strict rules for entering His presence. Once a year, the high priest would enter the Most Holy Place with blood from a sacrifice to atone for the nation's sins. One goat was sacrificed and another — the scapegoat — was sent into the wilderness carrying the people's sins symbolically. This was the holiest day on Israel's calendar, the ultimate clean slate.
