God brought them to the Promised Land's front door and they said 'nah the giants are too scary' — fumble of the millennium.
Moses sent twelve spies into Canaan and they came back with incredible fruit but terrifying reports about giants and fortified cities. Only Joshua and Caleb said 'we can take them, God's got us.' The other ten spies spread fear and the whole nation voted to go back to Egypt. God was so done He sentenced that entire generation to 40 years of wandering until they all died in the wilderness. Only Joshua and Caleb from that generation would enter the Promised Land.
