A short tax collector climbs a sycamore tree just to see Jesus pass through Jericho — Jesus invites himself over for dinner and absolutely changes the guy's life.
Zacchaeus is the chief tax collector in Jericho — meaning he's rich AND hated. When Jesus is passing through, the crowd blocks him so he climbs a sycamore tree to see. Jesus stops, looks up, calls him by name, and says 'I'm coming to your house today.' The religious crowd lowkey loses it that Jesus would eat with a sinner. Zacchaeus stands up and pledges to give half his stuff to the poor and pay back anyone he cheated 4x. Jesus declares 'salvation has come to this house today.'
