Acknowledging sin or truth before God — the prerequisite for forgiveness and the public marker of belief
Two threads in Scripture. Confession of sin (1 John 1:9) names what we have done so God can forgive and cleanse. Confession of faith (Romans 10:9-10) publicly declares Jesus as Lord and is one of the Bible's defining markers of belonging to Christ. Both refuse hiding.
