Disordered desire for more — money, possessions, status — that Scripture treats as a form of idolatry
Colossians 3:5 explicitly calls greed (or covetousness) idolatry, because it puts a created thing where God belongs. Jesus warned more often about money than almost any other moral danger (Luke 12:15, Matthew 6:24). The issue is not having things but being possessed by them.
