Material flourishing — biblically blessed when held loosely, dangerous when made the goal
Scripture neither idolizes nor demonizes prosperity. The Old Testament treats material blessing as one form of God's covenant favor (Deuteronomy 28). Jesus warns repeatedly that wealth makes following him harder (Matthew 19:24). The "prosperity gospel" — teaching that faith guarantees wealth and health — distorts both threads by promising what Scripture never does.
