The inner, immaterial dimension of a human being — the seat of personality, will, and relationship with God
Hebrew uses "nephesh" and Greek uses "psyche" for soul, and neither implies a Greek dualism where the body is bad. Biblical anthropology holds soul and body together — humans are integrated beings created good. But the soul is what survives bodily death and awaits resurrection (2 Corinthians 5, Revelation 6:9-11).
