Someone who testifies to what they have seen or known about Jesus — the New Testament's word for the Christian's basic vocation
The Greek "martys" (from which "martyr" comes) means witness. Acts 1:8 calls believers to be witnesses "in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Witnessing is not primarily salesmanship; it is honest first-person testimony to what Jesus has done in real history and in your real life.
