A Judean king who reigned two years in idolatry and was assassinated by his own servants leaving the throne to his son Josiah
2 Kings 21:19-26 narrates the short and apostate reign of King Amon of Judah, son of Manasseh and grandson of Hezekiah: "Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem... And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his father Manasseh did. And he walked in all the way that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them." His servants conspired against him and killed him in his own house, but "the people of the land" executed the conspirators and made his eight-year-old son Josiah king, opening the way for Judah's last great reform.
