Boaz

A wealthy landowner in Bethlehem who noticed Ruth gleaning in his fields and went out of his way to protect and provide for her. He fulfilled the role of 'kinsman-redeemer' (go'el) — a family member who rescues a relative from poverty or need. His marriage to Ruth made him part of the lineage of David and, ultimately, Jesus.
