Nehemiah's brother who brought news of Jerusalem's broken walls

His report about the desolate state of Jerusalem's walls moved Nehemiah to tears, prayer, and eventually action (Nehemiah 1:2-3). Nehemiah later put Hanani in charge of Jerusalem's security alongside Hananiah (Nehemiah 7:2).
