The southernmost terminus of Chedorlaomers eastern campaign on the edge of the wilderness of Paran
SinaiEl-paran ("oak of Paran" or "terebinth of Paran") was the southernmost terminus of the four-king coalition's sweep through the Transjordan in Genesis 14:6: "And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-paran, which is by the wilderness." After smashing the Rephaim at Ashteroth-Karnaim, the Zuzim at Ham, and the Emim at Shaveh-Kiriathaim, Chedorlaomer's forces continued south through Edom and the Horite highlands until they reached El-paran at the edge of the great desert. The site is generally identified with Elath/Aqaba at the head of the Gulf of Aqaba.
