The Roman station on the Appian Way where Christians from Rome came to meet Paul as he marched north from Puteoli
ItalyThe Forum of Appius (Latin Appii Forum) was a Roman station on the Appian Way about 65 km southeast of Rome, named for the road's builder Appius Claudius Caecus. Acts 28:15 records the moving moment when the Roman Christian community came south to meet the apostle Paul as he marched the final leg of his prisoner's journey from Puteoli to Rome: "And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage." The site is identified with the modern Italian town of Foro Appio at the 43rd milestone of the Via Appia.
