A Levitical town in Zebulun the Israelites failed to clear of Canaanites — given to the Merarite Levites as one of their twelve cities
ZebulunNahalal (also called Nahalol) was a town in the southwestern Jezreel Valley, allotted to the tribe of Zebulun (Joshua 19:15). Israel never fully expelled the Canaanite inhabitants — they became forced labor instead: "Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of Kitron or the inhabitants of Nahalol; so the Canaanites lived among them, but became subject to forced labor" (Judges 1:30). At the Levitical distribution, Nahalal was assigned as one of the four Zebulunite towns given to the Merarite clan of Levites (Joshua 21:35). Identified by some with Tell el-Beidah or Tell en-Naḥl in the modern Jezreel Valley.
