Benjaminite town near Lod where Sanballat tried to lure Nehemiah to his death
Sharon PlainHistorically Verified
Modern Kafr Ana has been absorbed into greater Tel Aviv. The Israeli town Kiryat Ono is named after the biblical site, and Iron Age occupation has been documented in surveys.
A town in Benjamin's coastal plain territory near Lod, founded by Shemed (1 Chronicles 8:12). Returning exiles from Babylon resettled Ono together with neighboring Lod (Ezra 2:33; Nehemiah 7:37; 11:35). When Sanballat and Geshem tried to lure Nehemiah away from his Jerusalem wall-rebuilding to a meeting "in one of the villages in the plain of Ono," Nehemiah refused four times — recognizing it as an assassination plot (Nehemiah 6:1-4).
