7 days to know who you really are
The world keeps trying to tell you who you are. Here's what God says instead.
Start Reading — Day 1: Made on PurposeReady when you are.
Before you ever had a name, a job title, or a social media profile, God had something to say about you. Today's reading takes you back to the very beginning — where your identity was first spoken into existence.
Reflect
What does it mean to you personally that you were created in the image of God — not as an afterthought, but as the climax of creation?
Where in your life have you been looking for worth in things that weren't designed to carry that weight?
What if you found out you were wanted long before you showed up? Paul writes to a church full of ordinary people and tells them something extraordinary — that God chose them before the foundation of the world. This isn't about earning a spot. It's about discovering you already have one.
There's a difference between being seen and being known. Psalm 139 is one of the most intimate passages in all of Scripture — a God who knows every thought, every movement, every unspoken word. And instead of pulling away, He draws closer.
Everyone carries a version of themselves they wish they could leave behind. Paul says you can — and already have. In Christ, the old is gone and something entirely new has taken its place. Today's reading is about the identity upgrade you didn't have to apply for.
Romans 8 might be the most important chapter in the Bible for anyone who has ever felt like they don't belong. Paul lays out a breathtaking truth: you haven't been given a spirit of fear — you've been given the Spirit of a child who gets to call God 'Father.' And nothing can separate you from that.
Peter writes to people who felt overlooked by the world and tells them the truth: you are chosen, royal, set apart, and belonging to God. This isn't a motivational speech — it's a declaration of who you already are. Your identity isn't something you build. It's something you've been given.
This is where it all lands. Paul gets deeply personal in Galatians 2 and says the quiet part out loud: if your worth could come from performance, then Christ died for nothing. Today's reading is an invitation to stop performing and start living from the identity you've been building all week.
