6 days to learn how to actually rest
You were not designed to operate without pause. God Himself modeled rest on the seventh day of creation. These 6 chapters challenge the culture of constant productivity and reveal that rest is not laziness — it's trust.
Start Reading — Day 1: Come to Me and RestReady when you are.
Jesus looks at exhausted, overburdened people and offers the most countercultural invitation imaginable: 'come to me and I will give you rest.' Not a productivity strategy. Not a self-help plan. Rest.
Reflect
Jesus said 'my yoke is easy and my burden is light.' Does your life feel that way? If not, why?
What burden are you carrying that Jesus is inviting you to release?
The writer of Hebrews declares that a rest awaits God's people — and the failure to enter it stems from unbelief, not insufficient effort. Resting is not quitting. It is trusting.
The disciples are drained from ministry and Jesus withdraws them to a quiet place: 'come away and rest a while.' Even Jesus prioritized solitude and renewal. If He needed it, so do you.
Jesus points to the birds and the wildflowers. They do not strategize, stress, or plan for every outcome — yet God provides for them. You are worth far more. Release the anxiety.
Martha is consumed with preparations while Mary sits at Jesus' feet, doing nothing visibly productive. Jesus declares that Mary chose the better part. It challenges every instinct to perform.
Jesus says 'apart from me you can do nothing.' Not less — nothing. The branch does not strive independently; it remains connected to the vine. Abiding is the most restful and the most fruitful posture available to you.
