Someone God's name, and the community has to figure out what to do about it.
This chapter is about what it means to take God seriously — in the everyday rituals AND in the moments when someone crosses the line. The instructions here aren't random regulations. They're about how a holy God lives among imperfect people, and what happens when someone disrespects that arrangement.
Keep the Lights On 🕯️
God tells to have the people of bring pure olive oil — specifically from beaten olives — to keep the lampstand burning in the tent of meeting. This wasn't a one-time thing. This was every single night, from evening to morning, maintained by Aaron himself.
The lampstand sat outside the veil of the testimony, right there in God's presence. It was made of pure gold, and it had to stay lit. No exceptions, no days off. God called this a statute forever — across every generation. The light in God's house never goes dark.
This hits different when you realize what it represents. God's presence among His people was to be marked by constant, unwavering light. Someone had to faithfully show up every day to keep it burning. Faithfulness isn't glamorous — it's showing up when nobody's watching and doing the work anyway. 💯

The people brought him to Moses, but here's what's interesting — they didn't just handle it themselves. They put him in custody and waited for God to make the call. Nobody knew exactly what the punishment should be yet.
This is actually a really important detail. Even in a moment of outrage, the community didn't act on emotion. They waited for God's word before doing anything. That's a level of restraint and reverence that says a lot about how seriously they took both and God's authority.
God's Verdict on Blasphemy ⚖️

God speaks to Moses directly. The one who cursed is to be brought outside the camp. Everyone who heard the blasphemy lays their hands on his head — transferring the guilt back to where it belongs — and then the entire congregation carries out the sentence. Death by stoning.
