The God Who Pulls You Up From the Bottom

Psalms 113 — Praising the God Who Lifts the Lowly

2 min read

📢 Chapter 113 — The Ultimate Glow Up Anthem 🙌

This is one of the Hallel psalms — the songs Israel's people would sing during and other major festivals. It's short, it's intense, and it builds from "praise God's name" to "let me tell you WHY."

The whole psalm answers one question: Why does the God who sits above everything deserve your ? Because He doesn't stay up there. He comes down.

Praise His Name Forever 🔥

The psalm opens with a triple call to praise — not a suggestion, not a vibe, a command. Three times: praise.

"Praise the Lord! If you serve Him, praise His name. Say it again — praise the name of the Lord! His name is blessed from now until forever. From the moment the sun comes up to the moment it goes down, His name deserves all the hype."

That's not a time slot — that's every waking moment. Sunrise to sunset, no breaks, no off-season. His name stays worthy. 💯

Nobody Compares 👑

After the call to praise comes the reason. The psalmist zooms out to show the scale of who God actually is.

"The Lord is above every nation. His glory is higher than the heavens themselves. Who is like the Lord our God? He's seated on high — so far above that even the heavens and the earth are beneath His gaze."

This is the flex that matters. God isn't just powerful — He's in a category no one else occupies. He looks DOWN on the sky. The heavens are below His feet. That's not just goated, that's incomparable. ✨

The Dust-to-Throne Glow Up 🏆

Here's where the psalm hits different. The God who sits above everything doesn't stay distant. He reaches all the way down.

"He pulls the poor out of the dust. He lifts the needy off the ash heap — and doesn't just clean them up. He seats them with princes. With the leaders of His people. He gives the woman who couldn't have children a home — and makes her a joyful mother. Praise the Lord!"

That's the whole point. The most powerful being in existence uses His power to elevate the people nobody else notices. From the bottom to the table with royalty. From emptiness to fullness. That's not just — that's the heart of God on full display. 🫶
