God Is the Only One Who's Never Mid

Psalms 62 — Trusting God alone when everything is shaky

3 min read

📢 Chapter 62 — The Only Solid Thing 🪨

wrote this one when the noise was loud and the threats were real. People were coming for him, talking sweet to his face and plotting behind his back. But instead of spiraling, he did something wild — he got quiet.

This whole psalm is David telling his own soul to settle down and trust the one Person who has never once fumbled. It's a masterclass in where to put your when everything else is shaking.

Soul on Silent Mode 🪨

David opens with one of the most grounded statements in all of — no dramatics, no panic, just quiet certainty.

"My soul waits in silence for God alone. He's the only one my Salvation comes from. He's my rock, my salvation, my fortress — I'm not getting shaken like that."

In a world that's constantly screaming for your attention, David chose silence before God. Not because nothing was happening, but because he knew who was holding him. That's not passive — that's the most based move you can make. 🪨

Calling Out the Fake Love 👀

Then David turns and addresses the people who've been coming for him — and he does NOT hold back.

"How long are y'all gonna keep attacking someone like he's a leaning wall you can just push over? A tottering fence? All you do is plot to drag people down from where God put them. You love the lie. You bless with your mouths but curse on the inside."

Selah. Pause on that. David just described every two-faced person who's ever existed. Sweet to your face, sus behind your back. He sees right through the performance — they're not just haters, they're liars who enjoy the deception. That's a different level of toxic.

The Reset — Trust Hits Different the Second Time 🙏

Now David circles back and preaches to himself again. Same message as verse 1, but deeper. This time there's no "greatly" qualifier — he's not shaken. Period.

"For God alone, my soul — wait in silence. My hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will NOT be shaken. My salvation, my glory, my mighty rock, my refuge — it's all God."

And then he opens it up to everyone listening:

"Trust Him at all times, people. Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us."

This is David saying: don't just admire my Faith — do it yourself. Bring everything to God. The anxiety, the anger, the confusion, the grief. He can handle your honesty. Pour it all out. He's not going anywhere. 🙏

Clout Is Lighter Than Air 💨

Here's where David drops some of the hardest in the whole book of Psalms.

"People of low status? A breath. People of high status? A delusion. Put them on the scale and they all float up — together they weigh less than nothing."

"Don't put your trust in extortion. Don't set your hopes on robbery. And if your money starts stacking up — don't let your heart get attached to it."

Nobody is exempt. Rich or poor, famous or unknown — apart from God, every person is vapor. , wealth, influence — it's all lighter than air on God's scale. David's not saying money is . He's saying if your security is in your bank account, you're building on nothing. Fr fr. 💨

The Final Word — Power and Love Belong to God ⚡

David closes with a statement so important that God said it once and David heard it twice.

"Power belongs to God. And to you, Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will give to each person according to what they've done."

Two things. That's it. God has all the power AND all the love. Most powerful people aren't loving. Most loving people feel powerless. But God is both — infinitely strong and infinitely kind. And He's perfectly just, rewarding each person according to their work. No cap.

That's the whole psalm. When everything shakes, God is the rock. When people are fake, God is the refuge. When money promises security, God is the real fortress. One source. One hope. One foundation. 💯
