The same communities as 1 Peter, plus a broader Christian audience
To warn against false teachers and remind believers that Jesus IS coming back
Second Peter is an urgent warning letter. Peter (or someone writing in his name) knows his death is coming and has two things to say: watch out for false teachers who twist the truth for profit, and don't lose just because Jesus hasn't returned yet. 'With the Lord a day is like a thousand years.' Patience isn't weakness — it's mercy.
Peter literally heard God's voice on a mountain and still says the written Word is the even more solid authority — that's how canon Scripture is.
2 Peter 1 — Peter's Final Glow Up Guide
"Whatever overcomes you is what enslaves you" — Peter drops one of the rawest lines in Scripture, and it applies way beyond false teachers.
2 Peter 2 — Fake Teachers Are Cooked
Your holy living actually speeds up God's timeline — you're not just waiting around, you're actively participating in when Jesus comes back.
2 Peter 3 — God's Not Slow — You're Just Impatient
