Herod Flips Out — The Massacre of the Innocents

Herod is so threatened by a baby that he orders the execution of every male child two years old and under in Bethlehem. This is genuinely one of the most horrific moments in Scripture. Matthew connects it to Jeremiah's prophecy — 'Rachel weeping for her children.' The lengths evil will go to hold onto power are terrifying, but God had already moved Jesus out of harm's way.
