Joseph's brothers were so sick of his dreams and his fancy coat that they sold him into slavery. Family dysfunction at its peak.
Jacob gave Joseph a special robe (the drip that started drama) and Joseph kept having dreams about his family bowing to him — which he told everyone about. His brothers plotted to unalive him but Reuben talked them down. They threw him in a pit, then sold him to traders for 20 pieces of silver. They dipped the robe in goat blood and told Jacob a wild animal got him. Jacob was inconsolable. Meanwhile Joseph ended up in Egypt at Potiphar's house.
