The Hittites showed up in Anatolia and started building an empire that would eventually make Egypt nervous.
Around 1650 BCE, the Hittites consolidated power in central Anatolia (modern Turkey) under King Hattusili I. These people were lowkey cracked — they figured out iron smelting before almost anyone else and built a military machine that would eventually rival Egypt. Hattusili's grandson Mursili I even sacked Babylon in 1595 BCE. From mountain tribe to Babylon-wrecking empire in two generations? That's a speedrun.
