Ancient tablets from Mari name-drop 'Habiru' — and scholars have been arguing about whether that means 'Hebrew' ever since.
The royal archives at Mari (modern Syria) contained over 25,000 clay tablets from around 1800-1750 BCE, and some of them reference a group called the 'Habiru.' Were these the Hebrews? Scholars are still throwing hands over it. The tablets also describe a world of tribal migrations, treaty-making, and pastoral nomads that lowkey sounds exactly like Abraham's lifestyle. The vibes match even if the name doesn't.
