Sea Peoples Invasions

Starting around 1200 BCE, waves of maritime raiders attacked Egypt, the Hittites, Ugarit, and basically every coastal civilization in the eastern Mediterranean. Egyptian records at Medinet Habu show dramatic battle scenes against these 'Sea Peoples.' Ramesses III barely fought them off. Among these groups were the Peleset — who settled in Canaan and became the Philistines. Yeah, THOSE Philistines.
