The basic social unit in Scripture — biological, adoptive, and ultimately spiritual through Christ
Genesis sets up family as the foundation of human society. Jesus radically expands it — those who do God's will are his mother and brothers (Mark 3:35). The New Testament treats the church as God's household, a family that crosses bloodlines through adoption into Christ. Earthly family is honored but never made ultimate.
