The first portion of a harvest offered to God — acknowledging Him as the source of all provision
Israel offered the first produce of each harvest to God before consuming the rest (Exodus 23:19). Paul calls Christ "the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep" (1 Corinthians 15:20) — the first to rise, guaranteeing the future resurrection of all believers.
