Pain and loss endured under God's sovereignty — Scripture neither denies it nor wastes it
The Bible takes suffering seriously. Job, Lamentations, the Psalms of lament, Jesus's own cross, and Paul's catalogues of hardship (2 Corinthians 11) all refuse to pretend pain isn't real. Romans 5:3-5 and James 1:2-4 don't promise that suffering is good in itself, but that God uses it — building endurance, character, and hope in those who trust Him through it.
