The Ethiopian official who saved Jeremiah from a cistern — and got a personal promise from God
open_in_newAn Ethiopian eunuch serving in the court of King Zedekiah. When the officials threw Jeremiah into a muddy cistern to die, Ebed-Melech went directly to the king, got permission, and pulled Jeremiah out with ropes and old rags to cushion the prophet's arms (Jeremiah 38:7-13). God personally promised Ebed-Melech through Jeremiah that he would survive the fall of Jerusalem because he trusted in the Lord (Jeremiah 39:15-18). A rare bright spot in one of the Bible's darkest chapters.
