A Shephelah town in Judahs tribal inheritance between Sharaim and Gederah
ShephelahAdithaim was one of the fourteen lowland Shephelah towns of Judah catalogued in Joshua 15:36, listed between Sharaim and Gederah: "And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim." The town appears nowhere else in Scripture; its location is uncertain but lay in the inner Shephelah between the hill country and the Mediterranean coastal plain, perhaps near modern Hadid (the Adida of the Maccabean period). The cluster of Shephelah towns named here marks the southwestern frontier of Judean settlement where the foothills give way to the open Philistine plain.
