The Shephelah hometown of King Josiahs mother Jedidah
ShephelahBozkath was a town in the lowland Shephelah of Judah, listed among the cities of Judah's inheritance between Lachish and Eglon (Joshua 15:39). Its lasting biblical fame comes from being the hometown of Jedidah daughter of Adaiah, the mother of King Josiah (2 Kings 22:1) — the great reformer king who restored covenant worship to Judah after the discovery of the lost Book of the Law in the temple. The site is generally identified with a Tel near modern Bayt Kasla in the Lachish region, though the identification is not certain. Bozkath's humble appearance in the genealogical note about Josiah's mother is a quiet reminder that the spiritual renewal of an entire kingdom can have its roots in a small Shephelah village.
