An ancient kingdom east of the Jordan — Israel's hostile neighbor
East of JordanHistorically Verified
The capital city, Rabbah, is literally modern-day Amman, Jordan. Ancient Egyptian and Assyrian records mention the Ammonites by name, and inscriptions from their own people have been found on site.
A kingdom in modern-day Jordan, east of the Jordan River and north of Moab. The Ammonites descended from Lot (Abraham's nephew) and were persistent enemies of Israel throughout the Old Testament. They harassed the tribes of Gilead, and Jephthah fought against them in Judges 11. David later conquered Ammon's capital, Rabbah (modern Amman, Jordan).
2 Chronicles

Nehemiah
Nehemiah Comes Back and Chooses Violence
Ammon is cited here as one of the nations whose women had married into the Jewish community — directly connecting to the exclusion law just enforced earlier in the chapter.
Jeremiah
