A waypoint on the southern border of the Promised Land near the Wadi of Egypt
NegevAzmon was a marker on the southern boundary of the land God promised Israel, lying between Hazar-addar and the Wadi of Egypt (Numbers 34:4-5, Joshua 15:4). The southern border ran from the southern tip of the Salt Sea up through the Wilderness of Zin and the ascent of Akrabbim, past Kadesh-barnea and Hazar-addar to Azmon, then turned northwest along the Wadi of Egypt until it reached the Mediterranean. The exact site is uncertain but is generally placed in the northern Sinai near Ain el-Qoseimeh or Ain Muweilih, west of Kadesh-barnea. Azmon represents the desert frontier where Israel's ideal southern border met the wilderness threshold to Egypt.
