A Levitical city of Manasseh in the Jezreel Valley the same as Ibleam
Jezreel ValleyBileam was a Levitical city of the half-tribe of Manasseh in the Jezreel Valley, allotted to the Kohathite Levites: "And out of the half tribe of Manasseh; Aner with her suburbs, and Bileam with her suburbs, for the family of the remnant of the sons of Kohath" (1 Chronicles 6:70). The parallel list in Joshua 21:25 names the same site as "Ibleam" or "Gath-rimmon" in some textual traditions. The site is the great mound of Tel Bel'ameh just south of Jenin, commanding the strategic pass between the Jezreel Valley and the Samarian highlands — the same site as biblical Ibleam where King Ahaziah was struck down by Jehu's men.
