Galilean village above Capernaum where Jesus pronounced "woe" for refusing to repent despite his miracles
GalileeHistorically Verified
Modern Korazim National Park in Israel. The site preserves a remarkable black-basalt synagogue from the centuries after Jesus, including the famous "Seat of Moses" stone bench discovered in 1926.
A village in upper Galilee about two miles north of Capernaum, part of the triangle where Jesus performed many of his miracles. When the towns failed to repent despite the wonders done in them, Jesus pronounced his famous "woe" over Chorazin alongside Bethsaida and Capernaum, declaring that Tyre and Sidon would have repented in sackcloth and ashes had they seen what Chorazin saw (Matthew 11:21; Luke 10:13). The town was abandoned by the Byzantine period and its black-basalt synagogue ruins survive today as a stark reminder of Jesus' warning.
