An eastern Sinai coast landmark named in Deuteronomy 1:1 framing Moses final sermon to Israel
SinaiDizahab ("place of gold") was one of the wilderness landmarks named in the opening verse of Deuteronomy, where Moses delivered his final sermon to Israel before his death: "These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab" (Deut 1:1). The catalog lists five geographic anchors framing the precise location where the great sermon was given — Dizahab being the easternmost. The site is identified with Dhahab on the eastern Sinai coast or with a location east of the Arabah.
