A Benjaminite valley town in the catalog of the tribes inheritance
BenjaminEmek-keziz ("valley of cutting off") was one of the twelve cities of the tribe of Benjamin named in Joshua 18:21 in the catalog of the tribal allotment: "Jericho, and Beth-hoglah, and the valley of Keziz." The name preserves the topographical setting — a valley site whose name suggests either a place where a watercourse was sharply cut into the terrain or a settlement at the edge of a natural defile. The exact site is uncertain but lay in the Benjaminite hill country near Jericho.
