A small Benjaminite settlement in Isaiahs prophetic parade of the Assyrian advance on Jerusalem
BenjaminGebim was a small settlement north of Jerusalem named in Isaiah's prophetic vision of the Assyrian army advancing stage by stage toward the capital: "Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee. As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion" (Isaiah 10:31-32). The prophet traces the invader's route through Aiath, Migron, Michmash, Geba, Ramah, Gibeah, Anathoth, Madmenah, Gebim, and finally Nob — each town in turn fleeing as the army approaches. Gebim sat just a few kilometers north of Jerusalem in the Benjaminite highlands.
