A Levitical priest-town in the hill country of Judah — given to the Kohathite descendants of Aaron alongside Hebron, Libnah, and Jattir
JudeaHolon was a town in the hill country of Judah, allotted to Judah at the conquest (Joshua 15:51). It was set apart as one of the thirteen Levitical cities given to the Kohathite descendants of Aaron — the priests of Israel — clustered through southern Judah and Simeon (Joshua 21:15, 1 Chronicles 6:58 names it Hilen). The Aaronic priest-cities of Judah formed a chain across the hill country, ensuring that the priests served Israel from villages scattered through every region rather than concentrated in one place. Holon's exact location is uncertain, though somewhere in the central hill country south of Hebron is likely.
