A town in Judahs Shephelah lowland inheritance listed near Lachish Cabbon and Chitlish
ShephelahLahmam appears once in Scripture in Joshua's catalog of Judah's second Shephelah district: "Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish, And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages" (Joshua 15:40-41). The town lay in the inner Shephelah lowlands near Lachish — the heavily-fortified Judean military stronghold of the western foothills that buffered Jerusalem from Philistine and later Assyrian advances. The site is commonly identified with Khirbet el-Lahm about three miles south of Beit Jibrin, in the heart of the contested Judean-Philistine borderland.
