A town in Judahs fourth Shephelah district allotment near Keilah and Achzib
ShephelahNezib appears once in Scripture in Joshua's catalog of Judah's fourth Shephelah district: "Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan, And Jiphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib, And Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages" (Joshua 15:42-44). The cluster of nine lowland towns occupied the western Judean foothills between Lachish and Hebron, with Keilah (rescued by David from Philistine raid in 1 Samuel 23) and Mareshah (later home to the prophet Micah of Moresheth) as the better-known neighbors. Nezib is identified with Khirbet Beit Nasib about ten miles northwest of Hebron, with Iron Age pottery confirming occupation through the divided-kingdom era.
