6 days to learn how to actually rest
You were not built to run 24/7. God literally modeled rest on day 7 of creation. These 6 chapters will challenge the hustle gospel and show you that rest isn't laziness — it's obedience.
Start Reading — Day 1: Come to Me and RestReady when you are.
Jesus looks at burned-out, overworked, exhausted people and says the most countercultural thing possible: 'come to me and I will give you rest.' Not productivity tips. Not a hustle plan. Rest.
Reflect
Jesus said 'my yoke is easy and my burden is light.' Does your life feel easy and light right now? Why not?
What heavy thing are you carrying that Jesus is asking you to hand over?
The writer of Hebrews says there's a rest waiting for God's people — and the failure to enter it is a failure of faith, not effort. Resting isn't quitting. It's trusting.
The disciples are exhausted from ministry and Jesus pulls them aside: 'come away to a desolate place and rest a while.' Even Jesus prioritized withdrawal. If He needed it, so do you.
Jesus tells you to look at the birds and the flowers. They don't hustle, stress, or plan for every contingency — and God takes care of them. You're worth more than birds. Stop worrying.
Martha is stressed, cooking, and serving. Mary is sitting at Jesus' feet doing nothing productive. Jesus says Mary chose the better part. That had to sting — but it's the truth.
Jesus says 'apart from me you can do nothing.' Not 'less' — nothing. The vine doesn't hustle. The branch just stays connected. Abiding is the most restful — and most productive — thing you can do.
