An Ephraimite settlement from which a man brought twenty loaves of firstfruits and Elisha fed a hundred men
EphraimBaal-shalishah was a small settlement in the hill country of Ephraim from which "a man from Baal-shalisha brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof" (2 Kings 4:42-44). Elisha commanded his servant to set the bread before the gathered band of hundred prophets. The servant protested, "What, should I set this before an hundred men?" Elisha responded, "Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the Lord, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof." The miracle of multiplication foreshadows Jesus's later feeding of the multitudes. The site is identified with Kafr Thilth in central Samaria.
