The Ephraimite city Abijah of Judah captured during his decisive defeat of Jeroboam
EphraimEphron (or Ephrain) was an Ephraimite city that fell to King Abijah of Judah during his victorious campaign against King Jeroboam of Israel: "And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Beth-el with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephrain with the towns thereof" (2 Chronicles 13:19). After Abijah's 400,000-strong army defeated Jeroboam's 800,000 at the battle of Mount Zemaraim, three strategic Ephraimite cities — Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron — were annexed into Judah. The town is generally identified with et-Taiyibeh about 6 km northeast of Bethel.
