Ephron

Ephron (or Ephrain) was an Ephraimite city that fell to King Abijah of Judah during his victorious campaign against King Jeroboam of Israel: "And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Beth-el with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephrain with the towns thereof" (2 Chronicles 13:19). After Abijah's 400,000-strong army defeated Jeroboam's 800,000 at the battle of Mount Zemaraim, three strategic Ephraimite cities — Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron — were annexed into Judah. The town is generally identified with et-Taiyibeh about 6 km northeast of Bethel.
