A wilderness camp where Israel sang the Song of the Well after the princes and nobles dug it at the Lords command
MoabBeer ("well") was a station on Israel's wilderness itinerary east of Moab where the Lord provided water and Israel sang the Song of the Well (Numbers 21:16-18): "Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it: The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves." The Song is one of the oldest preserved hymns in Hebrew literature, celebrating the cooperative effort by which Israel's leaders dug the well at the Lord's command. The site lay east of the Arnon River in the highlands of Moab.
