A southern Judean town to which David sent gifts from the Amalekite spoil also called Chor-ashan
NegevBor-ashan (also called Chor-ashan or Ashan) was one of the southern Judean towns to which King David sent portions of the captured Amalekite spoil after recovering Ziklag's captives (1 Samuel 30:30): "And to them which were in Hormah, and to them which were in Chor-ashan, and to them which were in Athach." The town appears as "Ashan" in Joshua 15:42 in the Shephelah catalog of Judah and in Joshua 19:7 as a Simeonite town allotted within Judah's inheritance. The site is generally identified with Khirbet Asan near Beersheba.
